GRADER OPERATOR/FLEET MANAGER

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Grader Operator in construction, earthworks, roadworks, mining, or transport operations.
  • Proven expertise in operating motor graders safely and efficiently.
  • Experience managing fleets of heavy trucks, construction equipment, or earthmoving machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment components.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and equipment servicing schedules.
  • Ability to identify mechanical issues and coordinate repairs and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of equipment utilization, fuel management, and fleet performance monitoring.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals and maintenance records.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience supervising operators, drivers, or maintenance personnel is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license and relevant heavy equipment operating certifications are preferred.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding outdoor environments.
  • Experience in roadworks, civil construction, earthworks, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in fleet management, equipment maintenance planning, and heavy machinery operations.
  • Knowledge of heavy truck and construction equipment maintenance systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate motor graders for road construction, road maintenance, land development, and earthmoving projects.
  • Perform grading, leveling, shaping, and finishing of road surfaces and construction sites.
  • Conduct daily inspections and pre-start checks of graders and fleet equipment.
  • Monitor the condition, utilization, and performance of heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for the fleet.
  • Coordinate repairs, servicing, and breakdown response activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, fuel consumption, equipment usage, and repairs.
  • Supervise equipment operators, drivers, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and operational procedures.
  • Optimize fleet availability and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors regarding equipment requirements.
  • Report fleet performance, maintenance status, and operational issues to management.
