GARDENER / GROUNDS KEEPER

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience as a Gardener or Grounds Keeper.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced gardening and landscaping techniques.
• Familiarity with sprinkler systems and irrigation equipment.
• Knowledge of the proper care and maintenance of lawns, plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees.
• Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers, pesticides, and soil treatments.
• Ability to safely operate common gardening and landscaping tools and equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physically strong and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to work in different weather and outdoor conditions.
• Good attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of grounds appearance.
• Ability to follow safety procedures when handling gardening chemicals and equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain gardens, lawns, landscaped areas, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other outdoor spaces.
• Perform planting, transplanting, pruning, trimming, weeding, and general plant care.
• Mow lawns and maintain grass at appropriate heights and conditions.
• Water plants, lawns, trees, and landscaped areas using appropriate watering methods.
• Operate and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.
• Inspect sprinkler systems and report leaks, blockages, damaged components, or other issues.
• Use landscaping tools and equipment safely and correctly.
• Perform routine maintenance and basic cleaning of gardening and landscaping equipment.
• Apply fertilizers, soil conditioners, and other approved gardening products as required.
• Handle pesticides and other gardening chemicals safely and in accordance with applicable instructions.
• Monitor plants and landscaped areas for pests, diseases, weeds, and other conditions requiring attention.
• Remove leaves, branches, weeds, debris, and other unwanted materials from outdoor areas.
• Prepare soil, garden beds, and planting areas for new plants and landscaping activities.
• Assist with general landscaping and grounds improvement projects as assigned.
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe outdoor work areas.
• Inspect gardens and grounds regularly to identify maintenance requirements.
• Transport gardening materials, tools, soil, plants, and other supplies as needed.
• Follow proper safety procedures when handling tools, equipment, fertilizers, pesticides, and other gardening products.
• Work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding gardening and grounds-keeping activities.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and complete assigned duties efficiently and on time.
