Qualifications:
- Relevant technical or vocational education in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Operations, Process Technology, or a related field is preferred, subject to the employer’s requirements.
- Previous experience operating or supporting industrial furnaces, kilns, mills, or similar processing equipment is an advantage.
- Experience in cement manufacturing, mining, or another heavy industrial environment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of industrial processing equipment and cement manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with furnaces, rotary kilns, raw mills, cement mills, conveyors, feeders, fans, motors, and related equipment is an advantage.
- Ability to monitor operating parameters and recognize abnormal equipment or process conditions.
- Understanding of routine equipment inspections, safe operating practices, and basic maintenance procedures.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and supervisor directions accurately.
- Knowledge of industrial workplace safety, fire prevention, and proper PPE use.
- Awareness of hazards associated with high temperatures, moving machinery, dust, and industrial materials.
- Ability to maintain accurate operating records and report production or equipment issues.
- Good attention to detail, concentration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
- Physically fit to work in an industrial plant environment that may involve heat, dust, noise, and prolonged standing.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor assigned furnace, kiln, mill, and associated industrial equipment according to approved procedures.
- Monitor equipment operating conditions, including temperature, pressure, material flow, vibration, and other relevant process parameters.
- Assist in maintaining stable operating conditions to support production requirements and product quality.
- Monitor the movement and processing of raw materials, clinker, cement, and other materials through designated equipment.
- Inspect furnaces, mills, conveyors, feeders, fans, motors, and auxiliary equipment for abnormal conditions.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections before, during, and after assigned operations.
- Monitor control panels, alarms, indicators, and process readings to identify operational deviations.
- Adjust operating settings within authorized limits and according to supervisor instructions.
- Report abnormal temperatures, unusual noises, excessive vibration, material blockages, and other potential equipment problems.
- Coordinate with control room operators and shift supervisors to maintain stable production operations.
- Assist maintenance personnel during equipment inspections, servicing, and repair activities.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance as authorized.
- Follow approved startup, shutdown, and emergency operating procedures.
- Monitor material feeding and discharge to help prevent blockages, overloading, and unnecessary production interruptions.
- Assist in identifying production bottlenecks and reporting equipment performance issues.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection checklists, production records, and shift reports.
- Ensure that materials are handled and processed according to established production and quality requirements.
- Follow lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures before participating in maintenance activities.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant protective equipment where required.
- Follow fire prevention procedures and maintain awareness of hazards associated with high temperatures, rotating machinery, dust, and industrial materials.
- Maintain good housekeeping around furnaces, mills, equipment platforms, and operating areas.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to address operational and equipment issues.
- Report safety hazards, equipment defects, process deviations, and incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Perform other furnace, mill, and cement production duties assigned by management.
