Franklin Smith Limited is seeking experienced Fire Alarm Technicians to join its team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems and related safety equipment while ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, and fire protection standards.

Fire Alarm Technician

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of overseas experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical trade skills in fire alarm installation and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans, specifications, wiring diagrams, and safety procedures.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Safety-conscious, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, test, and repair fire alarm systems, detection devices, control panels, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and project specifications.
• Perform system inspections, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis to ensure reliable operation.
• Install and connect smoke detectors, heat detectors, alarm devices, control modules, and associated wiring.
• Conduct testing and commissioning of fire alarm systems according to required standards.
• Identify system faults and perform corrective maintenance when required.
• Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with fire protection regulations.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
