FIBERGLASS TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Fiberglass Technician is required.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in vehicle body building, vehicle repair, or a similar technical role.
- Strong practical experience working with fiberglass and composite materials.
- Competent in forming, fitting, trimming, repairing, and finishing fiberglass body panels and components.
- Experience working with body panels, trim components, and sealing systems.
- Good knowledge of fiberglass fabrication and repair techniques, including cutting, forming, laminating, sanding, grinding, filling, and finishing.
- Ability to accurately interpret measurements, work instructions, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and fiberglass workshop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished work.
- Sound knowledge of workshop safety practices and safe handling of fiberglass materials, resins, chemicals, and dust.
- Physically fit and capable of standing, bending, lifting, and performing manual fabrication and repair tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to completing assigned work.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to follow workplace procedures, safety requirements, quality standards, and instructions from supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fiberglass fabrication, repair, forming, fitting, and finishing work for vehicle bodies and related components.
- Work with fiberglass materials to manufacture, repair, modify, and restore vehicle body components.
- Form, shape, trim, and fit fiberglass body panels according to required dimensions, specifications, and designs.
- Install and fit body panels, trim components, covers, and other fiberglass parts accurately.
- Prepare fiberglass surfaces through cutting, grinding, sanding, filling, and other appropriate preparation techniques.
- Apply fiberglass materials, resins, hardeners, fillers, and other composite materials using appropriate fabrication and repair methods.
- Repair cracks, holes, surface damage, structural defects, and other imperfections in fiberglass components.
- Ensure body panels and components are properly aligned, securely fitted, and finished to required standards.
- Perform sealing and finishing work on body panels, joints, seams, and other areas to prevent water, dust, or other contaminants from entering.
- Inspect completed fiberglass work for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, alignment, strength, and overall finish.
- Identify defects or irregularities and carry out appropriate corrective and finishing work.
- Use hand tools, power tools, sanding equipment, measuring instruments, and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
- Follow technical drawings, measurements, work instructions, and specifications when fabricating or repairing components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of fiberglass materials, resins, chemicals, dust, and workshop waste.
- Follow established workshop safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work closely with supervisors, technicians, fabricators, and other workshop personnel to complete projects efficiently.
- Manage assigned tasks effectively while meeting required quality and production standards.
- Perform other fiberglass fabrication, vehicle body building, repair, and workshop duties assigned by management.
