Electrical Technician (Rig Equipment)
Qualifications:
- Male applicants only, as specified by the employer.
- 45 years old and below.
- Previous overseas work experience (ex-abroad) is required.
- Relevant experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably involving drilling rigs, oil and gas facilities, or heavy industrial equipment.
- Practical knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
- Familiarity with electrical motors, generators, control panels, power distribution systems, and industrial wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of electrical testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance procedures and electrical fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, grounding, circuit protection, and equipment isolation.
- Ability to identify electrical faults and perform corrective maintenance safely.
- Familiarity with industrial or drilling rig electrical systems is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safe operations.
- Physically fit and capable of performing technical maintenance duties in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams and follow supervisors’ instructions.
- Responsible, hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious.
- Willingness to comply with company policies, project requirements, and Saudi Arabian workplace safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment used in drilling rigs and related operations.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in motors, generators, control panels, wiring systems, and electrical circuits.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on rig electrical equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing instruments, meters, and diagnostic tools.
- Inspect electrical cables, connections, switches, circuit breakers, relays, and other electrical components.
- Maintain and repair electrical motors, starters, transformers, generators, and power distribution systems as required.
- Inspect and troubleshoot electrical control systems, instrumentation interfaces, and equipment control panels.
- Perform electrical testing and continuity checks according to technical specifications and approved procedures.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment and replacement components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
- Identify damaged, worn, or defective electrical components and recommend appropriate corrective action.
- Replace faulty components and ensure repairs comply with applicable technical and safety requirements.
- Monitor electrical equipment performance and report abnormal readings, overheating, unusual noises, or recurring faults.
- Maintain records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance when required.
- Coordinate with mechanical technicians, rig maintenance personnel, supervisors, and other technical staff.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and verify electrical isolation before performing maintenance work.
- Observe electrical safety requirements when working with energized systems, high-voltage equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and approved electrical testing tools.
- Maintain electrical tools, testing instruments, and work areas in clean and serviceable condition.
- Report electrical hazards, equipment failures, and safety incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Follow company maintenance schedules, operational procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform other electrical maintenance and rig equipment duties assigned by management.
