Commis De Cucina (Kitchen Assistant)
Qualifications:
- Male applicants preferred.
- Preferably 21–35 years old, subject to the employer’s requirements and applicable regulations.
- At least a high school graduate.
- Culinary training or a food preparation certificate is an advantage.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Commis Chef or Kitchen Assistant in a hotel, resort, or restaurant.
- Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel or resort is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food storage procedures.
- Hardworking, organized, attentive to detail, and willing to learn.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
- Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Italian is an advantage.
- Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation and cooking activities.
- Wash, peel, cut, chop, and portion vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, and other ingredients as required.
- Prepare basic ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and other components according to recipes and instructions.
- Measure ingredients and organize food items before cooking and service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, utensils, equipment, and preparation areas.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food storage procedures.
- Check ingredient quality and freshness and report damaged, spoiled, or insufficient supplies.
- Store ingredients correctly and label food items according to kitchen procedures.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, organizing stock, and replenishing kitchen supplies when needed.
- Support chefs during busy service periods and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Follow instructions from senior chefs and comply with kitchen safety procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned by the chef or kitchen supervisor.
