JMA Decorators Ltd is offering an overseas employment opportunity for an experienced Commercial Painter in New Zealand. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing interior and exterior surfaces, applying paints and protective coatings, and delivering high-quality finishes on commercial buildings.

Commercial Painter

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
• Must be at least a high school graduate.
• Proven experience in commercial painting, including interior and exterior painting works.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks, and repairing imperfections.
• Experience applying primers, paints, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings.
• Ability to measure, mix, and match paints according to project specifications.
• Proficiency in using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other painting tools.
• Ability to use ladders and scaffolding safely.
• Knowledge of painting equipment maintenance and workplace health and safety practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• An IELTS or PTE certificate is required.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and removing loose or damaged paint.
• Fill cracks, repair surface imperfections, and ensure surfaces are properly prepared before applying paint.
• Apply primers, paints, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings to commercial buildings.
• Measure, mix, and match paints and coatings according to project requirements and building specifications.
• Use brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other painting equipment to achieve smooth, even, and professional finishes.
• Inspect painted surfaces to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
• Safely use and maintain painting tools, equipment, ladders, and scaffolding.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, coatings, and other materials.
• Keep work areas clean and organised and ensure painting materials are stored and handled properly.
• Work with other construction and maintenance personnel to complete painting projects within the required timeframe.
