Automotive Technician (Electric Vehicle Experience)
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Automotive Technician with hands-on experience servicing Electric Vehicles (EVs).
- Strong knowledge of EV powertrains, battery systems, charging systems, and high-voltage electrical components.
- Experience using computerized automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and manufacturer service standards.
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a busy automotive workshop.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair services on electric, hybrid, and conventional vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, and high-voltage system faults using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Inspect, test, repair, and replace electric motors, batteries, inverters, charging systems, controllers, and related EV components.
- Conduct battery health assessments and perform high-voltage system inspections following manufacturer procedures.
- Service suspension, steering, braking, drivetrain, HVAC, and other vehicle systems.
- Perform software updates, system calibrations, and electronic programming when required.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, service bulletins, and repair procedures.
- Carry out vehicle inspections to identify defects and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, company quality standards, and workplace safety regulations.
- Follow high-voltage safety procedures, including proper isolation and lockout/tagout practices.
- Maintain accurate repair records, inspection reports, and service documentation.
- Keep tools, diagnostic equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Assist in training junior technicians on EV systems and best maintenance practices when required.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly to supervisors or service advisors.
- Perform other automotive repair and maintenance duties assigned by management.
