Welder/Fitter

Qualifications:

• High school/courses related to welding/training/certification in the FCAW welding process.
• Types of welding are FCAW and GMAW; experience with FCAW is important.
• Experience with shipyard welding or big structural welding.
• Experience in the marine industry is a very big plus.
• Experience on offshore drilling rigs.
• Capability to read blueprints and interpret necessary welding procedures.
• Ability to perform all the positions in welding (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G).
• Vocational diploma in welding or assembly or relevant work experience;
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors;
• Ability to read blueprints and work as part of a team.
• 80% ship welding, 20% shop welding.
• A great asset is experience on offshore drilling rigs.
• A driver’s license is an advantage.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Read blueprints and interpret necessary welding procedures;
• Work with blueprints, cut material and make fixtures;
• Perform welding according to FCAW and GMAW procedures;
• Perform various tasks surrounding the welder’s work or as required by the project in hand;
• Participate in and support activities set out in the health, safety and environment management system.
• The workers could be asked to worked at another location – as all Québec workers. If so, relocation assistance will be provided.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
