TRUCK MECHANIC

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Truck Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar position.
• Must hold a valid driver’s licence.
• Experience in general truck servicing and repair.
• Strong hands-on experience in under-chassis work, including clutch replacement, brake replacement, and suspension repairs.
• Good knowledge of truck mechanical systems, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Able to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs efficiently and safely.
• Additional skills are an advantage, including trailer repair and servicing, engine rebuilding and reconditioning, and electrical diagnostics and scan-tool operation.
• Able to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of trucks and heavy diesel vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems affecting truck performance and safety.
• Carry out under-chassis repairs, including clutch replacement, brake replacement, and suspension work.
• Inspect and maintain braking, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and other vehicle systems.
• Perform general truck servicing and replace worn or defective components.
• Use appropriate hand tools, workshop equipment, and diagnostic tools to complete repairs.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and testing after repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Identify mechanical faults and recommend appropriate repair or replacement procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, parts used, and other workshop activities.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties related to truck mechanical servicing and repair as assigned.
