Ace Alloy Wheel Repair is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technician to join its automotive repair workshop in Australia. The successful candidate will assist in inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and restoring alloy wheels and related automotive components. The role requires practical technical knowledge, proficiency in using workshop tools and equipment, and the ability to deliver quality repairs while following established procedures and workplace safety standards.
TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Automotive Technician, Alloy Wheel Repair Technician, or related technical professional is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of automotive components, workshop procedures, and repair techniques.
- Experience in alloy wheel inspection, repair, restoration, or refinishing is an advantage.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop machinery.
- Ability to identify visible damage, defects, and irregularities in alloy wheels and related components.
- Understanding of surface preparation, sanding, grinding, polishing, and finishing techniques is an advantage.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, repair procedures, and quality standards.
- Knowledge of workshop safety, proper tool handling, and personal protective equipment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong practical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with a team.
- Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on workshop duties.
- Reliable, responsible, hardworking, and willing to learn new technical procedures.
- Willingness to follow company policies and workplace safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect alloy wheels and related automotive components to identify damage, defects, cracks, bends, scratches, and other imperfections.
- Assess the condition of wheels and determine the appropriate repair or restoration procedures within the technician’s scope of work.
- Perform alloy wheel repair and restoration tasks according to workshop standards and technical instructions.
- Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery, and specialized repair equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist with wheel preparation, cleaning, sanding, grinding, polishing, and surface finishing as required.
- Prepare wheel surfaces for refinishing and other restoration processes.
- Assist with the application of finishing treatments and coatings when required and within the assigned scope of work.
- Measure and inspect wheel components to assess their condition and verify repair quality.
- Identify damage that may affect wheel safety or structural integrity and report it to the supervisor.
- Follow approved repair procedures and manufacturer specifications where applicable.
- Conduct quality checks before and after repair to ensure consistency and acceptable finishing standards.
- Operate workshop equipment according to operating instructions and safety procedures.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment faults, breakdowns, or unusual operating conditions.
- Maintain and properly store tools, equipment, materials, and replacement parts.
- Record completed work, inspection findings, and repair requirements when required.
- Coordinate with mechanics, fitters, painters, operators, and other workshop personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Handle chemicals, coatings, cleaning products, and other workshop materials according to safety instructions.
- Minimize material waste and ensure the proper use of workshop supplies.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- Perform other technical and workshop duties assigned by management.
