Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd is hiring a Steel Plate Fitter responsible for fitting, assembling, and installing steel plates and structural components for shipyard and marine projects. The role involves performing fabrication tasks, ensuring proper alignment and fit, and maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

Steel Plate Fitter

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a steel fitter or similar role.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience in tack welding, grinding, and steel plate fitting.
• Knowledge in drilling, assembling, and installing structural steel materials.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings is an advantage.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding shipyard conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Perform fitting, alignment, and installation of steel plates and structural steel components.
• Carry out tack welding, grinding, and fabrication works as required.
• Drill, assemble, and install steel members and other materials.
• Set up, operate, and maintain tools and related equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ensure proper measurements, alignment, and fitting accuracy.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Assist in other work areas as required based on workload and skill capability.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
