STEEL FIXER
Qualifications:
- Male applicants are preferred.
- Minimum 45 years old.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in construction, civil projects, steel fixing, or related maintenance work.
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or Reinforcing Steel Worker in construction or civil project environments.
- Skilled in cutting, bending, positioning, tying, and securing reinforcing steel bars.
- Able to read and follow reinforcement drawings, structural plans, bar bending schedules, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of reinforcement requirements for foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other concrete structures.
- Familiar with proper bar spacing, overlaps, laps, bends, alignment, and concrete cover requirements.
- Able to use steel fixing hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Good understanding of construction site practices and reinforcement installation procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate workmanship.
- Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual construction work.
- Able to lift, carry, position, and handle reinforcing steel materials safely.
- Able to work outdoors and under varying construction site conditions.
- Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and proper PPE use.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and responsible.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Able to follow instructions and work effectively with supervisors and other construction workers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform steel fixing and reinforcement works for construction and civil projects.
- Read and interpret reinforcement drawings, bar bending schedules, structural plans, and site instructions.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape reinforcing steel bars according to required dimensions.
- Position reinforcement bars accurately based on approved drawings and specifications.
- Tie and secure reinforcing steel using binding wire and appropriate tools.
- Install reinforcement for foundations, footings, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other structural elements.
- Ensure correct bar spacing, alignment, overlaps, bends, laps, and concrete cover.
- Prepare reinforcement cages and assemblies before installation.
- Use steel cutters, bar benders, tying tools, measuring tools, and other equipment safely.
- Check reinforcement installations before concrete pouring to ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Identify incorrect positioning, missing bars, insufficient spacing, or other reinforcement issues and report them to the supervisor.
- Assist with the installation of spacers, chairs, supports, and other reinforcement accessories.
- Handle and transport reinforcing steel bars and related materials safely around the construction site.
- Coordinate with carpenters, masons, concrete workers, engineers, and other trades to ensure proper sequencing of work.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned steel fixing activities within required timelines.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around reinforcement work areas.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report damaged or defective equipment.
- Follow construction drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and supervisor instructions.
- Observe site safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow safe lifting, handling, cutting, and bending practices when working with reinforcing steel.
- Assist with preparation and cleanup before and after concrete placement.
- Prevent unnecessary material waste through proper measurement, cutting, and handling of steel bars.
- Perform other steel fixing and construction-related duties assigned by the supervisor or project management.
