Hofmann Personal is seeking experienced Sorters (Metal Forming Machine Operators – Rolling Mill) to join a leading steel manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, sorting, processing, marking, cutting, grinding, and handling rolled steel products while ensuring compliance with production specifications, quality standards, and workplace safety regulations. This position requires experience in steel manufacturing, material handling, and rolling mill operations within a heavy industrial environment.
SORTER (Metal Forming Machine Operator-Rolling Mill)
Qualifications:
- Maximum age of 35 years old.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in steel manufacturing or rolling mill operations.
- Communicative level of English.
- Physically fit for heavy industrial work and able to pass an audiometric (hearing) examination.
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
- Experience handling steel materials and steel profiles.
- Skilled in Burning, Grinding, Cutting, Material handling
- Experience with steel marking using stamping and color-marking methods.
- Able to operate Band saws, Cutting tools, Stamping tools, Other steel processing equipment
- Able to read and understand job order sheets.
- Basic knowledge of rolling mill processes and material sorting.
- Willing to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.
- Strong attention to quality, safety, and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and sort rolled steel products according to production schedules and job orders.
- Inspect steel materials for quality, dimensions, and compliance with production specifications.
- Read and interpret job order sheets and production instructions accurately.
- Perform steel marking using stamping and color-marking methods for identification and traceability.
- Operate production equipment such as band saws, cutting tools, grinding equipment, and stamping tools.
- Carry out burning, cutting, grinding, and finishing of steel products as required.
- Repair minor defects on rolled steel products to meet quality standards.
- Handle, transport, and organize steel materials and steel profiles safely within the production area.
- Operate overhead cranes to lift, move, and position heavy steel products.
- Monitor production flow and assist in maintaining efficient rolling mill operations.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues or production concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area following company housekeeping standards.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist in inventory control and proper storage of finished steel products.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and production teams to meet manufacturing targets.
- Perform other steel production and material handling duties assigned by management.
