SKILLED DRIVER (HEAVY TRUCK)
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 3 years of driving experience in roading and/or construction.
- Experience in corporate long-haul, rural, or country driving is an advantage.
- Must hold a current and valid Driver’s License.
- Proven experience operating heavy trucks in construction, roading, transportation, or related environments.
- Good knowledge of safe heavy-vehicle operation and load handling procedures.
- Ability to conduct routine vehicle inspections and identify basic mechanical or safety issues.
- Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload construction materials and other heavy loads.
- Ability to maneuver heavy vehicles safely in construction sites, rural roads, highways, and confined areas.
- Good understanding of road safety, traffic regulations, workplace health and safety, and safe driving practices.
- Ability to follow routes, schedules, delivery instructions, and site requirements accurately.
- Physically fit and capable of performing duties associated with heavy truck operation and construction environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work in varying weather and road conditions.
- Must be willing to take the IELTS/PTE examination.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy trucks safely and efficiently for roading, construction, and related projects.
- Transport construction materials, equipment, aggregates, tools, and other assigned loads to and from work sites.
- Perform pre-start and routine inspections of the heavy truck before and during operations.
- Check tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, safety equipment, and other critical vehicle components.
- Ensure loads are properly positioned, secured, covered, and transported in accordance with safety requirements.
- Follow assigned routes, delivery schedules, site instructions, and transportation requirements.
- Safely maneuver heavy vehicles in construction sites, roads, yards, loading areas, and other operating environments.
- Operate vehicles in varying road and weather conditions, including rural and country areas.
- Maintain appropriate speed, following distance, and safe driving practices at all times.
- Follow applicable road traffic laws, company driving policies, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Complete required vehicle, trip, delivery, inspection, and operating records accurately.
- Report vehicle defects, mechanical problems, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, dispatch personnel, mechanics, construction workers, and other team members.
- Assist with safe loading and unloading operations when required.
- Monitor the condition of transported materials and ensure loads remain secure throughout the journey.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned heavy truck.
- Perform basic checks and minor operational tasks within the driver’s authorized responsibilities.
- Ensure the vehicle is parked, secured, and stored safely after completing assigned duties.
- Work efficiently to meet transportation schedules while maintaining safe operating practices.
- Follow site-specific traffic management plans and safety procedures when working on construction and roading projects.
- Maintain professional conduct when dealing with clients, site personnel, suppliers, and members of the public.
- Perform other driving, transportation, and site-related duties as assigned.
