Yamama Cement Factory is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Senior Mechanic – Belts to support the maintenance and reliability of conveyor belt systems in Saudi Arabia. This opportunity is ideal for experienced mechanical professionals with strong knowledge of conveyor belts, belt conveyors, mechanical components, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and industrial equipment repair.
SENIOR MECHANIC – BELTS
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanic, Conveyor Mechanic, Belt Technician, or similar industrial maintenance position.
- Strong experience in conveyor belt maintenance, repair, installation, splicing, tracking, and alignment.
- Good knowledge of belt conveyors, pulleys, idlers, rollers, bearings, gearboxes, couplings, drive systems, and tensioning equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and equipment inspection skills.
- Ability to identify belt wear, misalignment, damage, and other mechanical problems and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and technical specifications.
- Experience providing technical guidance or leading mechanics during conveyor maintenance activities.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety procedures and proper handling of mechanical maintenance equipment.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding cement plant environment.
- Responsible, detail-oriented, technically capable, and able to work effectively with maintenance and production teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee mechanical maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of conveyor belt systems and associated equipment.
- Inspect conveyor belts, pulleys, rollers, idlers, bearings, gearboxes, couplings, drive systems, and other components for wear, damage, misalignment, and abnormal conditions.
- Diagnose conveyor belt and mechanical system problems and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules, technical specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Perform conveyor belt installation, replacement, splicing, tracking, tensioning, alignment, and adjustment as required.
- Inspect belt condition and identify cracks, tears, excessive wear, misalignment, and other defects that may affect safe operation.
- Maintain and repair belt conveyor components, including pulleys, idlers, rollers, scrapers, tensioning systems, and drive assemblies.
- Monitor conveyor performance and identify potential failures to minimize unexpected breakdowns and production downtime.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, equipment operators, and other maintenance personnel during maintenance activities.
- Guide and provide technical assistance to mechanics and maintenance workers during complex conveyor repair and maintenance work.
- Assist during planned shutdowns, conveyor overhauls, inspections, belt replacements, and major maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper use of mechanical tools, lifting equipment, belt maintenance tools, and measuring instruments.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, belt replacements, equipment defects, and spare parts used.
- Identify recurring conveyor problems and recommend preventive measures to improve equipment reliability and service life.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and other industrial safety procedures during maintenance work.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain good housekeeping in conveyor and maintenance areas.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance and conveyor-related duties assigned by management.
