Paradisiac Village Company Limited is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager for an overseas employment opportunity in Jamaica. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and overseeing quality control procedures for construction projects, conducting inspections, managing quality personnel, verifying contractor and supplier compliance, and ensuring that completed work meets required specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Engineering or a similar field.
- Proven experience in quality control, quality assurance, construction inspection, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction quality control procedures, inspection methods, testing requirements, and documentation.
- Experience conducting site inspections and identifying construction defects, non-conformities, and code violations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, technical specifications, and applicable standards.
- Experience supervising inspectors, engineers, technicians, contractors, and other project personnel.
- Knowledge of material testing, inspection procedures, equipment calibration, and quality documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements, building codes, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, suppliers, engineers, architects, management, and other stakeholders.
- Proficient in preparing inspection reports, quality records, compliance documentation, and project reports.
- Able to work under pressure, meet project deadlines, and manage multiple quality control activities.
- Professional, reliable, proactive, and committed to continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site walk-throughs, inspections, and structural reviews to identify construction defects, workmanship issues, and potential code violations.
- Develop, implement, and enforce project-specific quality control procedures, inspection plans, and testing protocols.
- Establish quality standards and procedures in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Lead and supervise site inspectors, junior engineers, testing technicians, and other quality control personnel.
- Assign inspection activities and monitor the performance of quality control teams.
- Inspect construction work, materials, equipment, and completed installations for compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Verify that contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers meet company quality, performance, and safety standards.
- Review material certifications, test results, inspection reports, and other quality documentation.
- Coordinate material testing and ensure required testing procedures are properly completed.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformities, defects, deficiencies, and deviations from approved specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors and project teams to determine appropriate corrective actions and rework solutions.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that identified defects and non-conformities have been properly corrected.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Review construction drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and inspection requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs, quality records, testing reports, calibration records, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure inspection and testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and documented.
- Prepare regular quality control reports and provide project updates to management and stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate quality issues, corrective actions, and recommendations.
- Monitor trends in recurring defects and recommend improvements to prevent future quality problems.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, suppliers, and government or regulatory representatives when required.
- Support final inspections, punch-list activities, project closeout, and handover documentation.
- Promote a strong quality culture and ensure all project personnel understand applicable quality requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
