Paradisiac Village Company Limited is seeking an experienced Tile Setter for an overseas employment opportunity in Jamaica. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, measuring and planning tile layouts, cutting and installing tiles, applying grout and sealants, and ensuring high-quality, durable, and professionally finished tile work.

TILE SETTER

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a Tile Setter or in a similar position.
  • No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
  • Proven experience in preparing surfaces and installing various types of tiles.
  • Skilled in measuring spaces, calculating material requirements, and planning tile layouts.
  • Proficient in using wet saws, tile cutters, grinders, and other tile installation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of mortar, mastic, adhesives, grout, sealants, and waterproofing materials.
  • Ability to achieve precise tile alignment, consistent spacing, level surfaces, and clean finishes.
  • Knowledge of installing tiles around corners, fixtures, pipes, drains, and other obstacles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding construction and finishing work.
  • Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, hardworking, adaptable, and willing to comply with company and site requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, clean, level, smooth, and waterproof sub-surfaces or backer boards before tile installation.
  • Inspect surfaces and correct uneven or damaged areas to ensure proper tile adhesion.
  • Measure spaces accurately and calculate the required quantity of tiles, adhesives, grout, and other materials.
  • Plan tile layouts, patterns, spacing, alignment, and geometric designs according to project requirements.
  • Mark reference lines and establish accurate starting points for tile installation.
  • Cut tiles precisely using wet saws, tile cutters, grinders, and other appropriate tools.
  • Fit tiles around corners, edges, fixtures, pipes, drains, columns, and other obstacles.
  • Mix and prepare mortar, mastic, adhesive, grout, and other installation materials according to specifications.
  • Spread mortar, mastic, or adhesive evenly over prepared surfaces.
  • Set and position tiles with accurate spacing, level, alignment, and consistent joints.
  • Install ceramic, porcelain, stone, and other types of tiles according to project requirements.
  • Apply grout between tile joints and remove excess grout without damaging finished surfaces.
  • Clean, polish, and seal completed tile surfaces to achieve a durable and professional finish.
  • Inspect completed work for proper alignment, level, spacing, adhesion, and overall appearance.
  • Repair, replace, or adjust damaged, loose, uneven, or incorrectly installed tiles.
  • Maintain tile-cutting equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other work equipment in good condition.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the installation process.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
  • Coordinate with contractors, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, supervisors, and other site personnel.
  • Report material shortages, surface problems, equipment issues, or other concerns to supervisors.
  • Complete assigned tile installation work efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and workmanship.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
