Paradisiac Village Company Limited is seeking an experienced Electrician for an overseas employment opportunity in Jamaica. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems for property construction, renovations, and maintenance. The role requires strong knowledge of electrical installations, diagnostic tools, safety procedures, and applicable electrical codes.
ELECTRICIAN
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
- Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, panels, circuits, lighting systems, outlets, switches, motors, and electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Skilled in using multimeters, voltage testers, hand tools, power tools, and other electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose electrical faults and perform safe and effective repairs.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, applicable building codes, and electrical regulations.
- Experience working on electrical systems in residential, commercial, or property maintenance environments is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing electrical installation and maintenance work.
- Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, adaptable, and willing to comply with company and site requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install new electrical panels, wiring, lighting systems, outlets, switches, and other electrical components during property construction and tenant renovations.
- Install and maintain electrical circuits, fixtures, equipment, and distribution systems according to approved plans and specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, plans, and technical specifications.
- Inspect electrical equipment, wiring, panels, circuits, motors, switches, outlets, and other components regularly.
- Diagnose electrical faults, power failures, short circuits, damaged wiring, and other electrical problems.
- Use multimeters, voltage testers, and other electrical testing equipment to safely identify electrical faults.
- Repair, replace, and adjust faulty switches, outlets, circuits, wiring, motors, panels, and other electrical components.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize breakdowns and safety risks.
- Test newly installed and repaired electrical systems to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Ensure electrical installations and repairs comply with applicable local building codes, electrical regulations, and safety requirements.
- Identify and address potential electrical hazards, including faulty wiring, overloaded circuits, exposed conductors, and improper connections.
- Work with property managers, contractors, maintenance personnel, and other building staff to respond to maintenance requests.
- Assist with electrical utility setups and service requirements for new and existing tenants.
- Coordinate electrical work with other trades to avoid conflicts and ensure efficient project completion.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, materials used, and completed work orders.
- Maintain electrical tools, testing equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
- Follow electrical safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
- Respond to urgent electrical problems and emergencies promptly and safely.
- Report major electrical issues, material shortages, equipment faults, and safety concerns to management.
- Provide recommendations for electrical repairs, replacements, upgrades, and preventive maintenance when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
