MAG WELDER

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Must be at least a high school graduate.
  • Must have a valid welding qualification or certification, such as ISO 9606-1, including Process 135 for solid wire and/or Process 136 for flux-cored wire, as applicable.
  • Skilled in MAG/GMAW welding.
  • Able to weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of metal preparation, fitting, welding parameters, and weld inspection.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding welding and fabrication work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform MAG/GMAW welding on steel and other compatible metals in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Measure, cut, clean, prepare, fit, and clamp metal components before welding.
  • Set up welding machines, wire feeders, shielding gas, and other required equipment.
  • Select appropriate welding parameters, wire, and consumables according to job requirements.
  • Inspect completed welds for proper size, strength, appearance, penetration, and structural defects.
  • Grind and finish weld surfaces as required.
  • Identify welding defects and perform necessary corrections or repairs.
  • Clean and inspect welding machines, gas cylinders, tools, cables, and safety equipment regularly.
  • Follow welding procedures, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working area.
  • Report equipment problems, material issues, and quality concerns to supervisors.
  • Perform other welding and fabrication duties as assigned.
