Africa Atlantic Rubber Industry Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Inventory Assistant to support warehouse and inventory operations in Nigeria. The successful candidate will assist with inventory data entry, stock tracking, documentation, stock counting, discrepancy reporting, labeling, and general warehouse administration while maintaining accurate records and following safety procedures for the proper storage and movement of tire products and other materials.
INVENTORY ASSISTANT
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is required.
- No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
- A University or College diploma, certificate, or vocational training in Logistics is preferred.
- Previous warehouse, inventory, logistics, or stock-control experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of inventory management, stock control, and warehouse procedures.
- Familiarity with ERP, WMS, or logistics management systems; SAP experience is an advantage.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills with high attention to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and properly process stock documentation.
- Ability to conduct or assist with physical stock counts and inventory audits.
- Ability to identify and report inventory shortages, damages, and discrepancies.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment; appropriate license is preferred.
- Good understanding of warehouse safety procedures and safe material-handling practices.
- Physical ability to safely handle, store, and move tires and other warehouse materials.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively with warehouse, logistics, inventory, and administrative personnel.
- Responsible, reliable, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Update inventory databases and ERP/WMS systems accurately with daily stock transactions.
- Record stock arrivals, transfers, returns, dispatches, and other inventory movements.
- Verify inventory information against physical stock and supporting documentation.
- Receive and review delivery notes, purchase receipts, inventory adjustment forms, and other stock documents.
- File and maintain inventory and warehouse documents in an organized manner.
- Assist with routine cycle counts and scheduled physical stocktakes.
- Compare physical inventory quantities with system records and identify discrepancies.
- Investigate minor inventory variances and provide relevant information to the supervisor.
- Immediately report significant shortages, damaged products, missing stock, or other major inventory discrepancies.
- Label incoming stock correctly according to established warehouse procedures.
- Assist with barcode printing, labeling, scanning, and inventory identification activities.
- Help maintain accurate stock identification and location records.
- Assist in generating standard inventory status, stock movement, and inventory-related reports.
- Monitor stock movements and ensure transactions are recorded promptly and accurately.
- Assist warehouse personnel in locating, organizing, storing, and retrieving inventory.
- Support proper storage and arrangement of tire products and other warehouse materials.
- Assist with the safe loading, unloading, handling, and movement of inventory when required.
- Operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment only when properly trained and authorized.
- Ensure inventory is handled carefully to prevent damage, loss, or misplacement.
- Maintain clean, organized, and orderly inventory and warehouse areas.
- Follow established warehouse procedures for receiving, storage, picking, dispatch, and stock control.
- Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, logistics, and other departments regarding inventory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling inventory records and company information.
- Follow all workplace safety rules, warehouse procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling tires and other warehouse materials.
- Perform other inventory, warehouse, data-entry, and administrative duties assigned by management.
