HEAVY VEHICLE MECHANIC

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Maximum age of 40 years old.
  • Relevant training or certification in Heavy Equipment, Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 3 to 5 years of remaining validity before expiration.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy vehicle mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electronic diagnostics.
  • Proficient in using computerized diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual work in a workshop environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems of heavy vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including engine servicing, oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake inspections, and fluid replacement.
  • Repair and replace defective components such as engines, transmissions, clutches, axles, suspension systems, steering systems, braking systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Diagnose faults using computerized diagnostic equipment, testing tools, and manufacturer service manuals.
  • Conduct inspections to identify safety issues and ensure vehicles comply with operational and roadworthiness standards.
  • Perform engine tune-ups and adjust vehicle systems to optimize performance and fuel efficiency.
  • Test-drive or operationally test vehicles after repairs to verify proper functioning and quality of work.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, and parts replacement documentation.
  • Keep the workshop, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in safe working condition.
  • Comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations while performing maintenance and repair work.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other technicians to complete repairs within scheduled timeframes.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.
