Working International Resourcing Limited is seeking qualified and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics specializing in cranes to work in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing cranes, hoists, and electromechanical lifting equipment while ensuring safe and reliable operation in accordance with technical specifications and workplace safety requirements.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (Specialized in Cranes)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable work experience with cranes, hoists, or electromechanical lifting equipment.
- Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance, mechanical repair, or crane servicing.
- Experience handling or maintaining equipment such as ABUS, Konecranes, Demag, or similar crane and lifting equipment.
- At least High School Graduate.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence, Code C or CE.
- Strong knowledge of crane mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose equipment faults and perform appropriate repairs and adjustments.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
- Ability to safely use mechanical and electrical tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, equipment specifications, and maintenance instructions.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on maintenance work in industrial and construction environments.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to follow workplace safety procedures.
- Reliable, responsible, hardworking, and able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work in different industrial and site conditions as required.
- Willing to take IELTS or PTE and obtain a minimum score of 4.0 for IELTS or 29 for PTE.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair cranes, hoists, and heavy lifting equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical faults affecting crane and lifting equipment operation.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.
- Work on overhead cranes, lifting systems, hoists, and related heavy equipment.
- Inspect crane components including motors, gearboxes, brakes, wheels, drums, cables, hooks, limit switches, and control systems.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify worn, damaged, loose, or defective components.
- Repair, replace, adjust, and align mechanical and electromechanical components as required.
- Troubleshoot electrical and control-system issues associated with cranes and lifting equipment.
- Perform servicing and maintenance on crane drive systems, lifting mechanisms, and associated equipment.
- Use appropriate diagnostic tools, testing equipment, hand tools, and workshop machinery safely.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, equipment specifications, maintenance instructions, and service documentation.
- Test and operate equipment after repairs to verify safe and proper performance.
- Identify potential equipment hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, replacement parts, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, operators, and other maintenance personnel during repair and maintenance activities.
- Follow lockout/tagout, isolation, and other applicable safety procedures before performing maintenance work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and work area.
- Properly handle tools, spare parts, lubricants, electrical components, and other maintenance materials.
- Comply with New Zealand workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.
- Perform other heavy equipment maintenance and crane servicing duties assigned by management.
