Thomas Mining SARL is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment used in mining and industrial operations in Congo. The successful candidate will ensure that equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Qualifications:
- Male, 25–45 years old.
- Vocational training in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Repair, or a related trade is preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in heavy equipment.
- Experience servicing mining, construction, or industrial equipment is an advantage.
- Ability to diagnose equipment faults and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to read technical manuals, hydraulic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Physically fit and capable of working in demanding mining or industrial environments.
- Safety-conscious with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Willing to work in Congo and comply with company safety, maintenance, and operational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including mining trucks, bulldozers, excavators, cranes, loaders, and other machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform major and minor repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, and other mechanical components.
- Repair or replace defective parts, including pumps, cylinders, hoses, bearings, filters, belts, and electrical components.
- Conduct equipment testing after repairs to verify proper operation and performance.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records for all serviced equipment.
- Identify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
- Keep tools, equipment, and workshop areas clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Coordinate with equipment operators and supervisors to schedule maintenance and repairs efficiently.
- Perform emergency breakdown repairs as required to support continuous mining operations.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties assigned by management.
