Iririki Island Resort & Spa Vanuatu is seeking an experienced Head Kitchen Steward for an overseas work opportunity in Vanuatu. The successful candidate will lead the kitchen stewarding team, oversee cleaning and sanitation operations, maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety, and ensure the kitchen and food service areas are properly maintained and supplied.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or relevant certification in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field is an advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in kitchen stewarding, preferably in a hotel, resort, or large-scale food and beverage operation.
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing a kitchen stewarding team.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, food safety, cleaning procedures, and workplace safety.
- Experience supervising, training, motivating, and evaluating kitchen stewarding staff.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Ability to organize work schedules and coordinate multiple cleaning and stewarding activities.
- Able to coordinate effectively with the Executive Chef, Kitchen Team, Food & Beverage Department, Housekeeping, and Engineering Department.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, dishwashing procedures, and kitchen maintenance practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a fast-paced kitchen and resort environment.
- Able to work for extended periods standing, walking, lifting, and performing physical tasks.
- Reliable, hardworking, responsible, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and during busy hotel or resort operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the kitchen stewarding team.
- Assign duties, work schedules, cleaning tasks, and responsibilities to kitchen stewards.
- Train, coach, motivate, and evaluate stewarding staff to maintain high performance standards.
- Ensure kitchens, dishwashing areas, food preparation areas, storage rooms, equipment, utensils, and service areas are kept clean and sanitary.
- Monitor proper washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and storage of kitchen utensils, cookware, equipment, and service items.
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed in accordance with hotel, resort, and food safety standards.
- Monitor dishwashing operations and ensure adequate supplies of clean plates, glasses, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and stewarding areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Ensure proper handling, segregation, and disposal of kitchen waste and garbage.
- Monitor the availability and proper use of cleaning chemicals, detergents, sanitizers, and other stewarding supplies.
- Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning materials, kitchen supplies, and stewarding equipment.
- Coordinate with the Executive Chef and Kitchen Team regarding cleaning schedules, equipment requirements, and operational needs.
- Work closely with the Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering Departments to address operational and maintenance concerns.
- Report damaged kitchen equipment, plumbing problems, drainage issues, or other facility concerns to the appropriate department.
- Ensure cleaning equipment, dishwashing machines, garbage disposal systems, and other stewarding equipment are properly operated and maintained.
- Monitor water, cleaning chemical, and supply usage to minimize waste and control operating costs.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Maintain records, checklists, cleaning schedules, inventory reports, and other required stewarding documentation.
- Ensure all employees follow workplace health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Promote safe working practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness during high-volume operations, functions, banquets, and special events.
- Respond promptly to urgent cleaning and kitchen support requirements.
- Maintain professional standards of cleanliness, organization, teamwork, and service.
- Perform other kitchen stewarding and supervisory duties assigned by management.
