Centro Medico La Paz is seeking an experienced and qualified Forensic Doctor with autopsy experience to join its medical team in Equatorial Guinea. The successful candidate will perform medico-legal autopsies and post-mortem examinations, determine the cause and manner of death, collect and preserve forensic evidence, prepare comprehensive medico-legal reports, and provide expert medical opinions in support of death investigations and legal proceedings.
Forensic Doctor (Autopsy Experience)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience is required.
- Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Examination) is required.
- Proven experience in forensic medicine and pathology, particularly in performing medico-legal autopsies.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and pathology and their application in forensic investigations.
- Knowledge and experience in medico-legal regulations, procedures, and documentation.
- Knowledge of death investigation techniques, including the assessment and documentation of circumstances surrounding death.
- Strong knowledge of forensic evidence collection, preservation, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Knowledge and experience in interpreting toxicology and histopathology findings relevant to forensic investigations.
- Ability to interpret and integrate laboratory and radiological findings into medico-legal assessments.
- Strong report-writing skills and ability to prepare clear, comprehensive, and accurate forensic reports.
- Ability to provide objective and professional expert medical opinions and court testimony when required.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards applicable to autopsy and forensic work.
- Strong understanding of medical ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate forensic and medical records.
- Strong analytical, investigative, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with multidisciplinary medical, laboratory, investigative, and legal teams.
- Physically and emotionally capable of working in an autopsy and forensic investigation environment.
- Willingness to comply with hospital policies, forensic protocols, applicable regulations, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform medico-legal autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death.
- Conduct comprehensive external and internal post-mortem examinations according to established forensic protocols.
- Examine and document post-mortem findings accurately and systematically.
- Collect, preserve, label, and document forensic evidence obtained during autopsies and examinations.
- Maintain proper chain of custody for all forensic evidence and specimens.
- Prepare comprehensive medico-legal reports documenting autopsy procedures, findings, interpretations, and conclusions.
- Interpret and integrate laboratory, toxicology, histopathology, and radiology results into forensic assessments.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel, pathologists, investigators, and other relevant professionals during death investigations.
- Provide expert medical opinions regarding injuries, disease processes, toxicological findings, and the cause and manner of death.
- Provide professional testimony in court or other legal proceedings when required.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential medical and forensic records.
- Ensure all evidence, specimens, photographs, reports, and related documentation are properly recorded and securely maintained.
- Follow established procedures for the handling, storage, transfer, and disposal of forensic materials and evidence.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national regulations, medico-legal requirements, forensic standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Apply appropriate death investigation techniques when evaluating suspicious, unexpected, or unexplained deaths.
- Participate in investigations involving traumatic injuries, poisoning, occupational incidents, and other circumstances requiring forensic medical evaluation.
- Support disaster victim identification (DVI) and mass fatality investigations when required.
- Participate in forensic quality assurance activities and help maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to medical personnel and other staff involved in forensic procedures when assigned.
- Participate in continuing medical education and professional development activities to maintain current forensic knowledge and skills.
- Observe occupational health and safety procedures when performing autopsies and handling potentially hazardous biological materials.
- Maintain strict medical ethics, confidentiality, professional integrity, and respect for the deceased and their families.
- Perform other forensic medicine and medico-legal duties assigned by hospital management.
