Carpenter Automotive & Transport Limited / Boroko Motors is seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Painter to join its team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces, applying automotive paint and coatings, and restoring vehicle finishes to meet manufacturer standards and customer expectations. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.

AUTOMOTIVE PAINTER

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
• Previous experience as an Automotive Painter or Vehicle Spray Painter is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, surface preparation, and refinishing techniques.
• Experience in color matching, paint mixing, and spray painting equipment operation.
• Ability to produce high-quality finishes with excellent attention to detail.
• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures and the safe handling of painting materials and equipment.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced automotive workshop environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare vehicle surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, masking, and priming prior to painting.
• Mix and match automotive paints to achieve the required color and finish.
• Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and protective finishes using spray painting equipment.
• Perform full vehicle repainting, panel refinishing, and paint touch-ups as required.
• Inspect completed paintwork for quality, color consistency, and finish, making corrections when necessary.
• Polish, buff, and detail painted surfaces to achieve a high-quality appearance.
• Maintain spray booths, painting equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and company quality standards throughout the painting process.
• Coordinate with panel technicians and workshop staff to ensure timely completion of repair jobs.
• Adhere to workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the proper handling of paints and hazardous materials.
