Aureol Global Connections is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer / Technician to support industrial automation and manufacturing operations in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated production systems, including PLCs, robotics, sensors, and vision systems. The role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to diagnose and resolve automation-related issues efficiently.
AUTOMATION ENGINEER / TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or related engineering qualification, minimum Level 6.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, particularly Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, control equipment, and production machinery.
- Knowledge of robotics, sensors, and machine vision systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC hardware, software, electrical controls, sensors, actuators, and automated machinery.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, control diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose automation faults systematically.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices for industrial automation equipment.
- Good understanding of industrial electrical and control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability, quality, and safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills when working with production, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
- Ability to work independently and respond effectively to production and equipment issues.
- Willing to work in an industrial and manufacturing environment and perform troubleshooting and maintenance duties as required.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automation systems and equipment.
- Program, modify, monitor, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) used in automated production systems.
- Work with PLC platforms including Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems.
- Diagnose PLC hardware and software faults and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot industrial robots, robotic systems, and automated machinery.
- Configure, inspect, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, switches, and other automation components.
- Work with machine vision systems used for inspection, measurement, identification, and quality control.
- Perform electrical and control-system troubleshooting on automated production equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment documentation.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of automation equipment and control systems.
- Identify potential equipment failures and implement preventive measures to minimize production downtime.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up of new automation equipment.
- Modify and improve automation programs and control systems to enhance production efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor automated production systems and respond promptly to equipment faults and alarms.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve technical problems.
- Investigate recurring automation faults and identify root causes to prevent future breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment faults, program changes, and repairs.
- Ensure automation equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
- Follow electrical, machinery, workplace safety, and quality requirements at all times.
- Assist with continuous improvement projects involving automation, robotics, process control, and production efficiency.
- Perform other automation engineering, technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting duties assigned by management.
