A & H Motors is seeking qualified and highly experienced Auto Body Paint Technicians for an overseas work opportunity in Barbados. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces, mixing and applying automotive paints, inspecting finished paintwork, performing polishing and refinishing, and maintaining painting equipment and a safe, clean work environment.
AUTO BODY PAINT TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience as an Auto Body Paint Technician, Automotive Painter, Vehicle Painter, or similar position.
- Must hold a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in a relevant field.
- Expert knowledge of paint mixing, spray-painting techniques, and automotive painting safety rules.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle surface preparation, priming, sealing, base coating, and clear coating.
- Skilled in using HVLP spray guns and automotive spray-painting equipment.
- Experience in sanding, masking, buffing, polishing, and automotive refinishing.
- Ability to accurately mix paints and achieve the required color, consistency, coverage, and finish.
- Strong knowledge of paint quality inspection and defect correction.
- Ability to identify and correct paint runs, dirt, uneven coverage, and other surface imperfections.
- Knowledge of spray-gun, spray-booth, and painting equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Familiarity with safe handling, storage, and disposal of automotive paints and chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an automotive workshop team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing automotive painting duties for extended periods.
- Willing to comply with company policies, safety procedures, and workplace requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, cleaning, degreasing, and masking areas that should not be painted.
- Inspect vehicle body surfaces and identify scratches, imperfections, corrosion, or areas requiring additional preparation.
- Apply primer and sealer according to required automotive refinishing procedures.
- Mix automotive paints, primers, sealers, and clear coats accurately to achieve the required color and consistency.
- Apply base coats and clear coats using HVLP spray guns and appropriate automotive painting equipment.
- Maintain proper spray-gun pressure, distance, and application technique to achieve an even and professional finish.
- Allow appropriate drying and curing time between paint applications.
- Inspect finished surfaces for flaws, runs, dirt, uneven coverage, color differences, and other imperfections.
- Perform necessary touch-ups, sanding, buffing, and polishing to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Correct minor paint defects and surface imperfections before final inspection.
- Ensure completed vehicles meet required quality and appearance standards.
- Clean and maintain HVLP spray guns, spray booths, hoses, and painting tools after use.
- Inspect painting equipment and report malfunctioning or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Properly handle and store paints, primers, sealers, solvents, and other painting materials.
- Follow automotive painting safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional working environment.
- Properly dispose of used paper, plastics, masking materials, and other painting-related waste in designated bins.
- Follow company policies, workshop procedures, health and safety requirements, and environmental guidelines.
- Coordinate with auto body repair technicians and other workshop personnel to ensure efficient completion of vehicle repairs.
- Report material shortages, equipment problems, paint defects, and other work-related concerns to supervisors.
- Perform other automotive painting and refinishing duties assigned by management.
