HK INDUSTRIER AS is seeking qualified and experienced Plate Fitters to join its industrial and steel fabrication operations in Norway. The successful candidates will be responsible for cutting, fitting, assembling, and preparing carbon and stainless steel plates and structures according to technical drawings. The position also involves MIG/MAG welding of steel structures and requires strong technical drawing interpretation and fabrication skills.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Engineering (Industrial) or similar fields.
- Experience working with carbon steel and stainless steel.
- Experience in MIG/MAG welding of steel structures.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and fabrication plans.
- Experience in sheet metal work, including cutting, fitting, and assembly according to drawings.
- Practical experience in steel construction, mechanical production, or the maritime industry is an advantage.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication, plate fitting, welding preparation, and structural assembly.
- Good measurement, fitting, alignment, and fabrication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
- Knowledge of safe operation of fabrication tools, welding equipment, and workshop machinery.
- Physically fit and capable of handling steel materials and performing workshop duties.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, safety, and workmanship.
- Reliable, disciplined, hardworking, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication plans, measurements, and work instructions.
- Perform sheet metal and plate work including cutting, fitting, positioning, and assembly.
- Measure, mark, cut, and prepare carbon steel and stainless steel materials according to specifications.
- Fit and assemble steel plates, components, frames, and structural parts accurately.
- Perform welding of steel structures, mainly using MIG/MAG welding processes.
- Prepare materials and components for welding and fabrication operations.
- Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, angles, tolerances, and fit-up before welding and final assembly.
- Use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, welding machines, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Perform grinding, cleaning, deburring, and finishing of fabricated steel components.
- Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, alignment, and overall workmanship.
- Identify fabrication defects, dimensional discrepancies, and other quality issues and make necessary corrections.
- Follow technical drawings, specifications, production schedules, and established fabrication procedures.
- Maintain proper workplace safety practices when handling heavy steel materials and operating machinery.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Coordinate with welders, fabricators, engineers, supervisors, and other production personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
- Follow company quality standards, safety regulations, and production requirements.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, fitting, and assembly.
- Perform other related plate fitting, steel fabrication, and workshop duties assigned by management.
