The Marine Room is seeking an experienced and dependable Junior Sous Chef to support kitchen operations in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals with strong experience in food preparation and execution, kitchen coordination, plating, and service leadership.

JUNIOR SOUS CHEF

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or similar culinary position.
  • Strong experience in food preparation and execution.
  • Ability to confidently lead the pass during evening service.
  • Strong knowledge of plating, kitchen coordination, timing, and service execution.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple kitchen sections during busy service periods.
  • Strong culinary, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen operating standards.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
  • Reliable, disciplined, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth food service.
  • Prepare and execute dishes according to established recipes, menus, quality standards, and presentation requirements.
  • Lead the pass during evening service, coordinating orders and ensuring dishes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee plating to ensure consistency in portioning, presentation, quality, and timing.
  • Coordinate kitchen sections during service to maintain an efficient and organized workflow.
  • Communicate with chefs and kitchen staff regarding orders, special requests, modifications, and service priorities.
  • Monitor the progress of food preparation and ensure all dishes meet the required standards before leaving the kitchen.
  • Assist in assigning tasks and supervising cooks, commis chefs, and other kitchen personnel during service.
  • Support menu preparation, recipe execution, and daily mise en place requirements.
  • Inspect ingredients and prepared food to ensure freshness, quality, proper storage, and correct preparation.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen organization.
  • Assist with inventory control, stock rotation, portion control, and minimizing food waste.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and service areas are clean and properly maintained.
  • Help train and guide junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, plating, and kitchen procedures.
  • Respond quickly to service issues and assist in resolving delays, quality concerns, or operational problems.
  • Perform other culinary and supervisory duties assigned by management.
