Senior Heavy Fabricator
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in heavy fabrication and welding, with a strong focus on high-quality, complex projects.
- Expertise in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, certifications, and safety practices.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience supervising and developing team members.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying and resolving project challenges efficiently.
- Certification in welding codes and standards is highly desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective client interaction
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the execution of welding and fabrication projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate with production managers, design engineers, fabricators, and the General Manager to ensure smooth workflow and efficient project
execution. - Perform advanced welding and fabrication work on complex and high-value projects.
- Ensure all welding and fabrication work complies with industry standards, certifications, and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on welding work, ensuring adherence to project specifications and identifying any defects or
issues. - Stay updated with new welding technologies and methods to enhance work quality and efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior tradesmen, apprentices, and team members to enhance their skills and ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Provide hands-on training and technical support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Set clear expectations, assign responsibilities, and monitor individual and team performance.
- Execute projects involving pipe welding, structural welding, and precision fabrication, ensuring welds and fabricated items meet strength and
precision standards. - Work on projects requiring certified welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to nurture repeat business and attract new projects for the Heavy Shop.
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for potential projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project feasibility.
- Manage client communications throughout project lifecycles, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to expand services offered to existing clients and develop strategies to win new business.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, ensuring all team members adhere to health and safety regulations, codes, and standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement measures to mitigate risks.
