Qualifications:

  • Must have UKVI IELTS with a score of 4.0 per category
  • Carpentry TESDA NCII or Trade Test Certificates is a MUST!
  • Must have appropriate Safety & Hazard Training Certificates
  • Competent in measuring roof or exterior wall and calculates required amounts of underfelt, tiles, slates or thatching material;
  • Competent in cutting wooden battens, felt and underfelt to required size;
  • Competent in laying and securing underfelt and covers with hot bitumen or other adhesive compound;
  • Keen on laying, aligning and securing successive overlapping layers of roofing material;
  • Competent in sealing edges of roof with mortar and ensures that joints are watertight.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. and to move objects weighing up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting the structure of roofs in order to determine the best course of action.
  • Providing clients with estimates on labor costs and materials required to fix or build a roof.
  • Measuring and cutting materials to ensure that they fit securely around vents, gutters, chimneys, and walls.
  • Smoothing out rough spots on roofs to prepare the surface for new shingles or waterproofing.
  • Replacing areas of clients’ roofs that are damaged or rotting.
