TRUCK MECHANIC

Qualifications:

  • Preferably 3 to 5 years or more of relevant work experience as an Automotive Mechanic, particularly in trailer truck engine repair and maintenance.
  • Experience in trailer truck repair and preventive maintenance.
  • At least High School Graduate.
  • Strong knowledge of truck engines and mechanical systems.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems in heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and routine truck servicing.
  • Able to safely use automotive hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on mechanical work.
  • Able to follow technical instructions, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ex-Abroad experience is an advantage.
  • Responsible, hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious.
  • Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, repair, servicing, and preventive maintenance of trailer trucks.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and identify the causes of vehicle faults.
  • Inspect truck engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform engine maintenance, repair, adjustment, and component replacement as required.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with established schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and other routine servicing tasks.
  • Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective truck components.
  • Inspect trailer systems and identify mechanical or operational problems.
  • Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery safely.
  • Conduct functional and road tests after repairs to verify proper vehicle operation.
  • Check vehicles for safety and mechanical reliability before returning them to service.
  • Troubleshoot recurring mechanical problems and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Follow technical manuals, repair procedures, specifications, and workplace instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and replaced parts.
  • Report major mechanical defects, repair requirements, and equipment concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and work area.
  • Properly handle tools, lubricants, oils, automotive parts, and other workshop materials.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures when performing repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with other mechanics, drivers, supervisors, and workshop personnel.
  • Perform other truck maintenance and mechanical duties assigned by management.

Sia Dinotrans is a Latvian company founded in Riga 2001. We are a truck haulage company that provides trucks with drivers for freights throughout Europe. We execute long-term transport assignments for our customers. We have our traffic and truck center on the outskirts of Riga. It is a multilingual office where Latvian, Russian and six other languages are spoken. All staff speaks English. Our customers are well-reputed transport agencies from Northern and Central Europe. We have more than 180 units of two and three-axle trucks. Most of them are euro 6 classified Scania and Volvo trucks. We have our own workshop where we service and maintain our trucks continuously. Our drivers are well educated and experienced in International truck driving. Almost all drivers speak English some also speak German. All are assisted and supported by English-speaking dispatchers who are in direct communication with customers and drivers. All our trucks are equipped with navigation. Dinotrans have more than 270 employees and we are currently Latvia´s second-largest international carrier.
