Otak International is seeking an experienced Transport Planner / Traffic Engineer to support transportation planning, traffic engineering, and infrastructure development projects in the United Arab Emirates. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing transportation systems, developing traffic solutions, preparing technical studies, and ensuring that projects comply with applicable UAE standards, guidelines, and requirements.
TRANSPORT PLANNER / TRAFFIC ENGINEER
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in transport planning, traffic engineering, or a closely related field.
UAE experience is mandatory. - Strong knowledge of transport planning, traffic engineering, and relevant UAE standards and guidelines.
- Experience in traffic analysis, transportation studies, traffic impact assessments, and road network evaluation.
- Good understanding of traffic flow, capacity analysis, intersection operations, transportation demand, and network planning.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, road layouts, traffic plans, technical reports, and project specifications.
- Strong analytical, numerical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical reports, calculations, and presentations.
- Strong coordination and communication skills when working with clients, consultants, government authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of applicable UAE road, transportation, and traffic requirements is essential.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and professional judgment.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate transportation and traffic engineering plans for roads, developments, and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct transport planning and traffic engineering studies to assess existing and future transportation conditions.
- Analyze traffic demand, network capacity, travel patterns, and traffic performance.
- Prepare traffic impact assessments and transportation planning reports for proposed developments.
- Assess traffic generation, distribution, assignment, and potential impacts of new developments on surrounding road networks.
- Develop traffic management and circulation strategies to improve mobility, accessibility, and road network efficiency.
- Review road networks, intersections, junction layouts, access arrangements, and traffic circulation plans.
- Conduct traffic surveys and analyze traffic volume, turning movement, speed, and other relevant transportation data.
- Use appropriate traffic analysis and transport planning methodologies to support engineering recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, presentations, drawings, and other project documentation.
- Review transportation and traffic design submissions for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Coordinate with civil, infrastructure, urban planning, and other engineering disciplines to integrate transportation requirements into project designs.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and other stakeholders regarding traffic and transportation matters.
- Ensure that transport planning and traffic engineering proposals comply with relevant UAE standards, regulations, and authority guidelines.
- Identify traffic-related issues and develop practical engineering solutions to address congestion, safety, accessibility, and operational concerns.
- Support the preparation and review of road and traffic improvement schemes.
- Monitor project progress and ensure transportation-related deliverables are completed within required schedules.
- Participate in technical meetings and provide professional advice on transport planning and traffic engineering matters.
- Maintain accurate technical records, calculations, analysis results, and project documentation.
- Stay updated on applicable UAE transportation policies, standards, guidelines, and industry practices.
