Franklin Smith Limited is seeking experienced Steel Fixers to join its team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing, cutting, bending, and installing steel reinforcement materials for concrete structures while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with construction specifications and workplace safety standards.

Steel Fixer

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of overseas experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical trade skills in steel reinforcement and construction works.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans, specifications, and safety procedures.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Safety-conscious, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Install steel reinforcement bars, mesh, and structural reinforcement materials for concrete construction projects.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, reinforcement plans, and construction specifications.
• Measure, cut, bend, and assemble reinforcing steel according to project requirements.
• Position and secure steel reinforcement using appropriate tools and fixing methods.
• Ensure reinforcement placement meets engineering specifications and quality standards.
• Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other construction trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Inspect completed steel fixing work for accuracy, alignment, and compliance.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
