RIGGER

Qualifications:

• At least two (2) years of relevant Rigger experience.
• NCCCO Signalperson certification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of standard rigging equipment, lifting accessories, and safe lifting practices.
• Ability to properly inspect and select rigging equipment for different lifting operations.
• Ability to safely attach, secure, guide, and position suspended loads.
• Proficient in using standard hand signals when coordinating with crane and equipment operators.
• Ability to communicate effectively through radio communication during lifting operations.
• Familiarity with applicable OSHA requirements and project safety standards.
• Strong understanding of workplace hazards associated with cranes, suspended loads, and heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow lifting plans, safety procedures, technical instructions, and supervisor directives.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on rigging work in a construction environment.
• Strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect rigging equipment before use to ensure it is safe, suitable, and in good working condition.
• Select appropriate slings, shackles, hooks, chains, wire ropes, and other rigging equipment based on load requirements.
• Safely attach, secure, and release loads for lifting and transportation.
• Determine appropriate rigging methods based on the size, weight, shape, and characteristics of loads.
• Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and prepared before lifting.
• Guide and position suspended loads safely and accurately.
• Use standard hand signals to communicate with crane and heavy equipment operators.
• Use radio communication when coordinating lifting and material-handling activities.
• Maintain clear communication with crane operators, equipment operators, supervisors, and other workers during lifting operations.
• Establish and maintain safe working zones around lifting and suspended-load operations.
• Ensure personnel remain clear of suspended loads and other potential hazards.
• Monitor loads during lifting, movement, positioning, and placement.
• Assist in the proper positioning of materials, equipment, structural components, and other heavy loads.
• Follow approved lifting plans, site procedures, and instructions from supervisors and lifting personnel.
• Identify damaged, defective, or unsafe rigging equipment and remove it from service.
• Properly store and maintain rigging equipment to prevent damage and deterioration.
• Follow applicable OSHA requirements, project safety procedures, and company policies.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and required site training.
• Maintain awareness of changing site conditions and potential lifting hazards.
• Stop or report lifting activities when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Perform other rigging and material-handling duties as assigned by management.
