Disney Cruise Line is seeking a skilled Repairman to support the Engineering Department in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of shipboard machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will perform corrective maintenance, fabrication, welding, machining, and general workshop repairs while ensuring all work complies with company standards, maritime regulations, and safety procedures. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural shipboard environment.
REPAIRMAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience on large cruise vessels with medium-speed diesel engines is preferred.
- Proven experience in corrective maintenance and the safe operation of mechanical equipment.
- Extensive experience in metal fabrication, with strong skills in general workshop fitting.
- Proficient in:
- Arc Welding
- Gas Welding
- Metal Fabrication
- Sheet Metal Work
- Pipe Fabrication and Pipe Work
- Lathe Machining
- Milling Machine Operations
- Ability to safely operate workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair techniques, fabrication processes, and workshop safety practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural work environment.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual work in engine room and workshop environments.
- Willing to work onboard Disney Cruise Line under a rotational contract.
Responsibilities:
- Perform corrective maintenance and repair of shipboard mechanical equipment and machinery.
Fabricate, repair, and modify metal components using welding, machining, and fabrication techniques.
Carry out arc welding, gas welding, cutting, brazing, and metal joining operations as required.
Perform sheet metal fabrication, pipework fabrication, and structural repairs.
Operate workshop machinery, including lathes, milling machines, drills, grinders, and cutting equipment.
Manufacture replacement parts and components when necessary to support maintenance activities.
Conduct inspections of machinery and equipment to identify wear, defects, or potential failures.
Assist engineering personnel during planned maintenance and emergency repair operations.
Maintain workshop tools, machinery, measuring instruments, and equipment in good working condition.
Keep the workshop and assigned work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Follow preventive and corrective maintenance schedules in accordance with engineering procedures.
Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication sketches, blueprints, and repair manuals.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, maritime regulations, and environmental protection procedures.
Participate in emergency response drills, including firefighting, damage control, and other shipboard emergency duties.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and report completed work to supervisors.
Perform other engineering and workshop duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or supervisors.
