Disney Cruise Line is seeking a vigilant, disciplined, and safety-focused Quartermaster to support the vessel’s safety, security, and navigational operations. The successful candidate will assist the Deck Department by conducting fire and safety patrols, monitoring security throughout the ship, controlling access while in port, and responding to emergencies. This position plays a vital role in protecting guests, crew members, and company assets while ensuring compliance with international maritime safety and security regulations.
Quartermaster
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of experience as a Quartermaster on a cruise ship or passenger vessel is preferred.
- Experience conducting fire, safety, and security patrols onboard a vessel.
- Knowledge of maritime safety regulations, emergency procedures, and shipboard security operations.
- Familiarity with access control, crowd management, and passenger safety procedures.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies.
- Good observation, situational awareness, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with guests and crew.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and responding quickly to emergencies.
- Willing to work onboard Disney Cruise Line under a rotational contract.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine fire and safety patrols throughout guest, crew, and service areas as directed by the Chief Officer Safety.
- Perform security patrols to monitor onboard activities and identify potential safety or security concerns.
- Act as an Access Security Guard at designated gangways and access points while the vessel is in port.
- Verify the identity of guests, crew members, contractors, and visitors entering or leaving the ship.
- Monitor gangway operations and ensure compliance with ship security procedures.
- Report suspicious activities, unauthorized access, safety hazards, or security incidents immediately to the Security Officer or Chief Officer Safety.
- Assist with crowd management during embarkation, disembarkation, drills, and emergency situations.
- Support the implementation of the Ship Security Plan (SSP) and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requirements.
- Participate in emergency response activities, including firefighting, evacuation, rescue operations, and crowd control.
- Operate and monitor security equipment such as radios, CCTV systems, alarms, and access control devices as assigned.
- Assist with mooring, docking, and other deck operations when required.
- Maintain accurate patrol logs, security reports, and incident documentation.
- Ensure emergency exits, firefighting equipment, and lifesaving appliances remain accessible and operational.
- Promote a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests and crew members.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Chief Officer Safety or Security Officer.
