QUALITY CONTROL ELECTRICIAN (Solar experienced)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in MV grid connection or power plant environments.
- Must have relevant experience in solar PV installation and O&M, preferably in MW-scale or large commercial ground-mounted solar projects.
- Must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety), Others, or similar fields.
- Strong practical knowledge of medium-voltage electrical systems and switchgear.
- Experience working with MV grid connections and electrical systems in power plant environments.
- Proven experience in quality control and inspection of electrical works during solar plant construction.
- Ability to read, write, review, and amend Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Experience working with equipment vendors to support the diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical equipment faults.
- Good understanding of solar PV electrical installation, operation, maintenance, and construction practices.
- Strong ability to identify electrical installation defects, non-conformities, and quality issues.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, inspection requirements, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, engineers, electricians, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Comfortable working independently and supporting project activities remotely when required.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices in power plant and solar construction environments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare clear technical and quality documentation.
- Reliable, organized, proactive, and capable of working in a project-based construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure the quality of electrical works during the construction of solar power plants.
- Conduct quality inspections of electrical installations, equipment, materials, and workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Inspect solar PV electrical installations, including equipment, cabling, connections, and associated electrical systems.
- Apply practical knowledge of solar PV installation and O&M for MW-scale or large commercial ground-mounted solar projects.
- Inspect and verify medium-voltage electrical systems and MV grid connection works.
- Work with and inspect medium-voltage switchgear to ensure proper installation, condition, and compliance with project requirements.
- Review electrical construction activities and identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities requiring corrective action.
- Verify completed electrical works against approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality requirements.
- Read, prepare, review, write, and amend Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) as required.
- Ensure electrical activities are carried out in accordance with approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Coordinate with site construction teams to address quality issues and ensure corrective actions are properly implemented.
- Work with equipment vendors and technical specialists to support the diagnosis and resolution of electrical equipment faults.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical and medium-voltage equipment and coordinate technical investigations when faults occur.
- Review vendor recommendations and technical information related to electrical equipment and corrective maintenance.
- Monitor testing, inspection, commissioning, and verification activities for electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintain accurate quality control records, inspection reports, checklists, test documentation, and non-conformance records.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Support project teams in maintaining quality standards throughout construction, installation, testing, and handover.
- Coordinate with engineers, electricians, contractors, vendors, and other project personnel to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Perform remote coordination and support activities when required.
- Ensure all electrical construction activities comply with applicable project specifications, quality procedures, and site safety requirements.
- Assist with final inspections, punch-list activities, rectification works, and handover documentation.
- Promote a strong quality culture and ensure that workmanship meets the required standards for reliable solar plant operation.
Perform other quality control and electrical duties assigned by project management.
