Pipe Fitter

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on marine pipe fitting experience in new ship and submarine construction.
• Vocational Diploma, short course certificate, or diploma in a related technical field.
• Active pipe fitting or tacking certification/tickets issued under AWS or an IACS classification society.
• Ability to fit stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper-nickel pipes using piping isometric drawings.
• Knowledge of and strict compliance with ASME B31.1, ASME Section IX, IACS, MIL-STD, WPS, and PQR specifications.
• Proficiency in pipe alignment correction using jacks and clamps, heat straightening, and purge gas adjustment.
• Knowledge of inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, particularly Visual Testing (VT) and Penetrant Testing (PT).
• Ability to identify and repair piping defects according to approved procedures.
• Male applicants are preferred for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Fit and install stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper-nickel pipes for marine applications.
• Read and interpret piping isometric drawings and technical specifications.
• Ensure proper pipe alignment, fit-up, and installation according to project requirements.
• Perform alignment corrections using jacks and clamps, heat straightening, and other appropriate techniques.
• Adjust purge gas settings as required for piping and welding operations.
• Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable technical standards rigorously.
• Conduct or support visual testing (VT) and penetrant testing (PT), as required.
• Identify piping defects and carry out necessary repairs in accordance with approved procedures.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable quality, safety, and inspection requirements.
