Panel Beater

Qualifications:

• Trade qualification or vocational training in Automotive Body Repair, Panel Beating or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in collision repairs, panel replacement, metal finishing and body alignment.
• Ability to use panel beating tools, welding equipment and vehicle body measuring/straightening systems safely.
• Must have completed at least a one-year vocational course or at least one year of college.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Experience following OEM repair procedures and working in a professional collision-repair workshop is an advantage.
• Applicants with experience exclusively in heavy trucks, buses or heavy equipment body repairs are not suitable for this light-vehicle role.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and assess collision damage to light-vehicle body panels, chassis and structural components.
• Remove, repair, reshape and replace damaged panels using appropriate panel beating tools and techniques.
• Carry out dent removal, metal finishing, panel alignment and restoration of vehicle body contours.
• Perform measuring, pulling and straightening of damaged body structures using approved repair equipment and procedures.
• Cut, weld, bond, rivet and fit replacement panels and components in accordance with manufacturer repair methods.
• Remove and refit bumpers, doors, guards, bonnets, tailgates, trims and related body components.
• Check panel gaps, fitment, structural alignment and repair quality before vehicles proceed to preparation and painting.
• Coordinate with vehicle spray painters, auto electricians and mechanical technicians to complete collision repairs.
• Maintain accurate job cards, identify required parts and follow workshop safety and quality standards
