Global Constructions Limited is seeking a highly qualified Occupational Health and Safety Manager for deployment to Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe and healthy working environment across company operations.
Occupational Health and Safety Manager
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working as an Occupational Health and Safety Manager or in a similar leadership role.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Occupational Health and Safety experience at the operational level within a large-scale organization, preferably in a multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety statutory requirements, regulations, codes of practice, and industry guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply safety regulations within the workplace.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence management and employees.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and training capabilities.
- Capable of working independently and in remote environments when required.
- Energetic, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to work in Papua New Guinea.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, regulations, codes of practice, and company standards.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify and minimize hazards.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor safety performance and prepare safety reports, statistics, and compliance documentation.
- Provide safety guidance and recommendations to management and operational teams.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and training programs for employees and contractors.
- Promote a positive safety culture and encourage employee participation in safety initiatives.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response procedures.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety.
- Train, mentor, and develop subordinates to support succession planning and workforce capability.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
- Support operations in remote project sites and provide safety leadership across multiple locations when required.
