Workforce Abundance Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to work across workshop and construction site environments. The successful candidate should be proficient in fabricating, welding, cutting, shaping, assembling, finishing, and installing metalwork using aluminium, steel, and stainless steel. The role requires the ability to interpret drawings, work accurately on different projects, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
METAL FABRICATOR
Qualifications:
- Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, or a related trade.
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience.
- Proven experience working with aluminium, steel, and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong practical skills in metal cutting, welding, grinding, bending, drilling, punching, shaping, and assembly.
- Proficiency in using appropriate welding techniques for different metals and fabrication requirements.
- Ability to achieve precise and high-quality welds with proper penetration, alignment, and finish.
- Good understanding of metal properties and appropriate fabrication techniques for aluminium, steel, and stainless steel.
- Ability to operate and maintain fabrication machinery, including lathes, mills, drill presses, press brakes, shears, and cutting tables.
- Strong measuring and layout skills to ensure dimensional accuracy and proper fit-up.
- Ability to fabricate and install complete metalwork according to project requirements.
- Experience working in both workshop and construction site environments.
- Ability to adapt to different fabrication projects and changing daily work requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, quality awareness, and pride in workmanship.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify and correct fabrication or welding defects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and safe use of fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Study and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation to determine fabrication requirements.
- Select, inspect, clean, and prepare metal stock according to project specifications.
- Work with aluminium, steel, and stainless steel for various fabrication applications.
- Measure, mark, and lay out metal sections and components accurately before fabrication.
- Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame-cutting torches, and metal-cutting machines.
- Shape, bend, and form metal sections and pipes using hand tools, machine tools, heating, and hammering techniques.
- Align and position components to be joined using measuring instruments, clamps, jigs, and appropriate hand tools.
- Join metal sections using appropriate MIG/MAG, TIG, ARC, or other welding techniques, as required by the project.
- Perform bolting, riveting, and other approved metal-joining methods.
- Examine completed welds for bead width, penetration, alignment, consistency, and overall precision.
- Clean, smooth, file, chisel, grind, and polish welds and fabricated surfaces.
- Finish fabricated products through cleaning, polishing, filing, grinding, and other appropriate finishing processes.
- Use appropriate chemical or acidic treatment processes for metal finishing when required and in accordance with safety procedures.
- Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including lathes, mills, drill presses, press brakes, shears, cutting tables, and related machinery.
- Set up and safely operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, drills, and other fabrication tools.
- Fabricate metal components and structures according to project drawings, measurements, and specifications.
- Install fabricated metalwork at construction sites in accordance with project documentation and approved installation requirements.
- Conduct accurate measurements and adjustments during onsite installation to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Perform quality checks on fabricated and installed metalwork to ensure dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, finish, and workmanship.
- Identify fabrication defects or installation issues and carry out appropriate corrections or rework.
- Maintain tools, machinery, equipment, and work areas in clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Work effectively on different fabrication and construction projects and adapt to changing daily requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, tradespeople, engineers, and other site personnel to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
- Work independently when required while contributing effectively to a fabrication and construction team.
- Follow state and company safety regulations, safe work procedures, and required PPE requirements.
- Perform other metal fabrication, welding, installation, and related duties assigned by management.
