Mechanic II (Heavy Equipment Maintenance)

Qualifications:

• Male applicants preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in heavy equipment maintenance workshops or a similar mechanical maintenance environment.
• Experience maintaining heavy equipment used in mining operations is an advantage.
• No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
• Knowledge of routine, preventive, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance procedures.
• Ability to inspect heavy equipment and attachments, identify mechanical issues, and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Familiarity with maintenance documentation, including Work Request forms.
• Ability to use mechanical tools and workshop equipment safely.
• Strong troubleshooting, practical problem-solving, and equipment maintenance skills.
• Willingness to follow workplace safety procedures and work in a mining-related environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine, preventive, corrective, and emergency mechanical maintenance on heavy equipment used in mining operations.
• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and its mechanical components to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections to identify mechanical defects, wear, damage, and potential failures.
• Inspect heavy equipment attachments and determine the need for preventive or corrective maintenance.
• Complete Work Request forms documenting identified defects, maintenance requirements, and recommended corrective actions.
• Submit maintenance requests and inspection findings to the direct supervisor for review and scheduling.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems and carry out repairs in accordance with established maintenance procedures.
• Maintain equipment used for drilling, crushing, loading, and other mining production activities.
• Replace or repair defective mechanical parts and components as necessary.
• Assist in emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational continuity.
• Follow workshop procedures, equipment maintenance schedules, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Use appropriate tools, equipment, and protective gear when performing maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and replaced components.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other maintenance personnel to support production plans and operational targets.
