Carpenters Fiji Pte Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic Technician to join its automotive service team in Fiji. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with manufacturer and safety standards.
Light Vehicle Mechanic Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience as a Light Vehicle Technician or Automotive Mechanic.
- Must hold a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational certification in Automotive Technology or Light Vehicle Maintenance is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, vehicle electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics.
- Proficient in using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Manufacturer certifications are an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills with a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, tire rotation, and fluid level checks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using computerized diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair and replace defective vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, and exhaust systems.
- Service and maintain vehicle air conditioning, cooling, and fuel systems.
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and identify necessary repairs or preventive maintenance requirements.
- Perform wheel alignment, tire balancing, and brake servicing.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Test drive vehicles before and after repairs to verify proper operation and performance.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and inspection reports.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, manufacturer standards, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped workshop environment.
