Workforce Abundance Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, and repair light vehicles. The successful candidate should have strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, experience with modern vehicle systems, and the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship while following manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.
LIGHT VEHICLE MECHANIC
Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Proven experience in light vehicle servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use workshop tools, electronic diagnostic equipment, and automotive software effectively.
- Ability to interpret electronic fault codes and carry out appropriate diagnostic procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to dismantle, repair, and reassemble major vehicle mechanical systems.
- Good understanding of vehicle safety, preventive maintenance, and manufacturer specifications.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a workshop team.
- Experience working with both petrol and diesel engines.
- Familiarity with 4WD vehicles.
- Experience working across a range of vehicle brands, including Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu.
- Experience with modern electronic vehicle diagnostic systems and computerized workshop equipment.
- Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults accurately.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple repair tasks.
- Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious approach to automotive work.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical components of light vehicles.
- Conduct routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and scheduled vehicle repairs.
- Diagnose engine, transmission, braking, steering, suspension, electrical, and other vehicle system faults.
- Perform diagnostic testing and interpret fault codes using electronic diagnostic equipment and software.
- Dismantle and reassemble engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, and suspension components.
- Repair, replace, and adjust defective or worn vehicle components.
- Carry out engine servicing and repairs on both petrol and diesel vehicles when required.
- Inspect and maintain 4WD vehicles and other light commercial vehicles when required.
- Perform wheel alignments, wheel balancing, and tire replacements.
- Inspect tires, wheels, brakes, suspension, and steering components for wear and safety concerns.
- Conduct road tests and functional checks after servicing or repairs to verify vehicle performance.
- Use workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, lifting equipment, and automotive software safely and effectively.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, technical procedures, and recommended repair methods.
- Identify required replacement parts, tools, and materials for repair and maintenance work.
- Maintain accurate service, inspection, diagnostic, and repair records in accordance with company procedures.
- Report major mechanical faults, additional repair requirements, and safety concerns to supervisors or customers.
- Maintain tools, equipment, service bays, and workshop areas in clean and organized condition.
- Work collaboratively with other mechanics and workshop personnel to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding vehicle condition, repair requirements, and completed work.
- Complete assigned repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Follow occupational health and safety regulations, safe work procedures, and required PPE practices.
- Perform other mechanical servicing, repair, and maintenance duties as assigned.
