BT Mining is currently seeking experienced and skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics for deployment to New Zealand. The successful candidate will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of heavy mining equipment and diesel-powered machinery used in mining operations.
Heavy Diesel Mechanic
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years working experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
- Experience in the Mining Industry is required.
- Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with at least Restriction Code C or CE.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and heavy equipment systems.
- Knowledgeable in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for mining and heavy equipment machinery.
- Familiar with preventive maintenance, servicing, and overhaul procedures.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
- Experienced in using computer-assisted diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Physically fit and capable of working in mining and industrial environments.
- Responsible, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines, heavy equipment, and machine components.
- Dismantle, remove, inspect, and check engine assemblies, transmissions, and related systems.
- Repair and replace worn, damaged, or defective parts according to service manuals and technical standards.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, and system inspections.
- Reassemble engines, transmissions, and mechanical parts after repair and maintenance activities.
- Test and adjust mechanical components to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for operational safety and roadworthiness compliance.
- Use computer-assisted diagnostic equipment to identify faults and test components accurately.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and inspection documentation.
- Follow mining safety procedures, workplace regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
