GELATO CHEF

Qualifications:

• 21 to 35 years old.
• With at least 2 years of experience in a fine dining restaurant or five-star hotel.
• Proven experience in gelato, frozen dessert, pastry, or professional culinary production.
• Good knowledge of gelato preparation, freezing techniques, ingredient handling, and temperature control.
• Ability to produce consistent gelato with excellent taste, texture, appearance, and quality.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper storage procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality food presentation.
• Creative and willing to develop new flavors and gelato products.
• Able to operate and maintain gelato-making and other kitchen equipment properly.
• Physically fit and able to work for extended periods in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
• Hardworking, reliable, organized, and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Willing to follow recipes, kitchen procedures, safety standards, and instructions from senior chefs and management.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and produce a variety of gelato, sorbets, and other frozen dessert products according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients accurately to achieve consistent flavor, texture, and quality.
• Prepare gelato bases, flavor mixtures, sauces, inclusions, toppings, and other components.
• Operate gelato machines, batch freezers, pasteurizers, mixers, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor temperatures, freezing processes, maturation, and storage conditions to maintain product quality.
• Develop and prepare different gelato flavors using fruits, dairy products, chocolate, nuts, spices, and other ingredients.
• Ensure proper balance of ingredients to achieve the required sweetness, creaminess, texture, and flavor.
• Portion, scoop, garnish, and present gelato and frozen desserts according to restaurant standards.
• Maintain consistency in taste, appearance, portion size, and presentation across all products.
• Prepare daily mise en place and ensure all ingredients and equipment are ready for production.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper storage before use.
• Properly label, store, and rotate ingredients and finished gelato products.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of gelato preparation areas, equipment, utensils, freezers, and storage facilities.
• Follow strict food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures.
• Monitor inventory of gelato ingredients and supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Minimize product and ingredient waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and inventory control.
• Coordinate with pastry chefs, kitchen staff, and service personnel to ensure timely preparation and availability of gelato products.
• Assist in creating new gelato flavors and seasonal frozen dessert offerings when required.
• Check finished products regularly to ensure they meet established quality and presentation standards.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and properly handle all kitchen and gelato equipment.
• Perform other gelato, pastry, and culinary duties assigned by the Chef or management.
